Did you ever wonder if your teachers were taking about you in the faculty lounge? You bet they were. This week on the Nest of Vipers, we’ve assembled a crack team of teachers to share their stories of teacher/student interaction. The stories run the gamut from heartwarming moments to stories that end in failure and expulsion. Hosted by filmmaker Danny Plotnick.
Guests include:
Doreen Diecke has been teaching English at San Francisco State University for 17 years. Her new teaching motto is “Getting you to the middle class since 1989.” When she’s not teaching she’s taking cool photos and getting knee-deep into Photoshop.
Bruce Lamott has been teaching at the high school, college and graduate levels for over 25 years. He teaches Choir, Orchestra and Western Civilization. When he’s not in the classroom, he’s holding court in the teachers’ lounge regaling faculty members with stories for all occasions.
Jan Richman is a poet and novelist who lives in San Francisco. She is the author of Because the Brain Can Be Talked Into Anything) and winner of the Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets. She is currently working on a novel about Tourette's syndrome and roller coasters. While teaching at the Academy of Art College, she found herself caught in the middle of a student expulsion case that made national headlines.
